My wife and I like to visit Richmond every year or so and had never taken a food tour although Carytown is known for its exquisite food. We decided to take the Simply Desserts tour; a bit of an indulgence for us. Wow, we're glad we did this.
Our guide Erin, was charming, amiable, and knowledgeable. Even when some of the fellow participants were not very friendly, she was able to manage the group expertly and keep the mood light. One of the nicest guides we've encountered in our travels.
There were five stops to our tour, and each stop was as different as the next: Carytown Cupcakes, Pit and the Peel, Tottering Teacup, For the Love of Chocolate, and Jean Jacques. The range of desserts was excellent, from cupcakes to Acai bowls (a type of thick smoothie that you each like an ice cream), to Petit Fours and European pastries. The chocolate shop is amazing! Chocolates from all over the world!
Additionally, in each location the owner or an employee would come out and tell us a little about the establishment, this was a nice touch. After an hour and a half, we were stuffed and totally satisfied.
Guys, do yourself a favor and try out the Simply Desserts tour. As it stands, we can't wait to try the longer food tour with River City Food Tours. Based on today's tour, we have high expectations.

J., so glad the indulgence was worth it! As someone with a sweet tooth, I love it when people get a kick out of trying a whole bunch of desserts in one afternoon! Keep us in mind for your next visit to Richmond!
