La tournée Old Taylor

Aperçu
This tour is the perfect way to travel the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. You will start with a wonderful BBQ lunch at our riverside dock in downtown Frankfort, KY.

Then, you will participate in a river tour that gives you a birds eye view of the water that birthed bourbon. Along your river tour, expert guides will spin tales of the story of bourbon, the men and women who created it and the "then and now" of where bourbon takes us.

After leaving the river, you will travel to the distillery, where you will go on the "Old Taylor Tour". Take a walk through bourbon history alongside E.H. Taylor Jr., the man who revolutionized the industry. Included in this tour will be a progressive bourbon tasting of EH Taylor products.

Tour route includes stairs and there is a lot of walking involved. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.

Buffalo Trace Distillery
you will visit the "Bourbon Pompeii", the oldest known part of the distillery grounds which was just recently rediscovered while doing some construction work. This part of the distillery has been excavated and turned into an archeological site providing a glimpse into bourbon history. This tour is offered through Buffalo Trace as a Special Tour, called the "EH Taylor Tour", requiring reservations, and is EXTREMELY difficult to find availability. But WE HAVE IT for you! AS part of this tour, you will take part in a tasting of Buffalo Trace's bourbons and vodka's at the "normally for the distinguished guests of the distillery" only building known as the EH Taylor House. This, like the tour, is almost impossible to get in to. But again, WE HAVE IT! Also, you will get to see this part of the distillery from all sides, including the river front, as we include a special Kentucky River Lock Through which puts you right behind the distillery where the "Bourbon Pompeii" is located!

Distillerie Buffalo Trace

Take a walk through bourbon history alongside E.H. Taylor Jr., the man who revolutionized the industry. From the Old Taylor House; to the OFC Building and OFC Fermenter #7, nicknamed “Old Taylor”; and finally to Warehouse C, you will see both the remnants and still-standing structures of what Taylor built, learn about his desire for perfection and purity in the bourbon making processes, and how he helped craft the industry as it is today. Tour route includes stairs and there is a lot of walking involved. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended. Those with acrophobia and/or fear of walking across metal grates may want to seek a different tour. For safety purposes, this tour is not available for guests under 12 years old. This tour route is not ADA accessible. This tour includes a tasting of some of our award-winning products.

We were visiting Frankfort KY and wanted to see the area and tour a few distilleries. I found a fantastic tour package through Kentucky River Tours. They normally finish the season the end of October, so I reached out by phone and left a message. I received a prompt reply that since the weather was so nice they agreed to accommodate us! We took the Bourbon Pompeii Tour where they combined two of the best things: Bourbon and Boats! (Probably why it is called the Bourbon Boat!) We started our tour on the water. We learned about the Kentucky River, local history, bourbon history, sampled local Rebecca Ruths rum ball candies, sipped on Kentucky made Ale8 gingerale and made our way to see one of the operating locks on the river that is just behind Buffalo Trace Distillery. After seeing things from the water they took us for the portion of the tour at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. We learned more about the area, bourbon and new distillery history they were uncovering. We finished with a tasting and a trip to the gifty shop for our loot. Captain Allison, Captain Nathan and their daughter were our fantastic hosts who we shared stories with and made new friends. We hope to see them again. We recommend ANY of the tours offered by Captain Allison & Captain Nathan on the Bourbon Boat! Check them out and you'll be supporting a great local small business
