My wife and I did a zip lining in Monteverde during our honeymoon stay in CR. My wife is afraid of heights and was not looking forward to this. This turned out to be one of many highlights for her on our honeymoon. The company picks you up at the hotel and takes you to their office to get you fitted in the gear. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes, shorts and shirt and light jacket. You are in the trees most of the time, so the sun is blocked. There is also a little hiking to do. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They made sure that everyone was having a good time and knew what they were doing and that they were comfortable with it. There was a total of 6 people in our group with 2 guides. One of the guides took each couples camera and took pictures and videos of everyone the whole time. You go on I believe 12 zip lines, repel down about a 100 plus feet and then climb inside a tree to get back up to the platform. They also have tarzan swing to start the adventure out to get your comfortable. It was honestly a blast and having such a professional staff made it that much more fun and safe feeling. The views you get on some of the lines are just unreal. A couple people saw some white throat monkeys, but they ran away by the time the rest of us got to the platform.

I considered various canopy tours whilst I was staying in Monteverde. I decided to go on this one as I had read that the others were very commercialised and they seemed to use large man-made platforms. I really enjoyed this tour. There is a little bit of walking to the start but I enjoyed the more natural experience of zip wiring between trees. There were only 3 in my group (including me) plus the 2 guides. I felt safe at all times. The guides were keen to take photos and video footage and were very good. I recommend this tour.

We really enjoyed the tour and felt safe throughout. We did feel a bit spoilt as we were a small group of three. Two very knowledgeable guides looked after us throughout and always made sure we felt comfortable and at ease. Looking at the pictures one can easily feel intimidated but once you are in the midst of the canopy it is just plain mesmerising. Most of all our guides wanted to enable us to enjoy our time and experience it as best as possible. We could go at our own pace and learnt plenty about the fauna and wildlife which was very engaging. We got picked up from the hotel and given a good introduction. After dropping a lens cap from one of the platforms we were overjoyed when one of the guys managed to find it later on. They do know the area like the back of their hand. I would suggest taking a decent pair of shoes and perhaps long trousers but otherwise just wear comfortable clothing. Leave yourselves a good 2 to 3 hours to enjoy it properly and remember to look after that lens cap! The rainforest is such a unique and essential part of nature. Being in the midst of it is a beautiful reminder of how much it needs our support and protection. Would love to go again.
