My husband and I went to Boston since we both love history. Naturally we wanted to go on a Freedom Trail tour. Richard, our tour guide was awesome. He was so knowledgeable about everything, attentive to questions and went above and beyond. He was witty and made sure everyone was having a good time. I figured the tour would last an hour, 3 hours later we are still following Richard on his every word. So detailed with facts and a wonderful way to learn about the great city of Boston!

Like a lot of other folks, we got our tickets through Groupon, and were pleasantly surprised by how much fun this tour was and how much we learned, even as lifelong Boston residents. The guide must give the same tour over and over again but he still manages to make it sound fresh, and his voice was loud enough to project to our entire group of about twenty people. There really isn't that much walking, but there's a fair bit of standing so wearing comfortable shoes (not flipflops, please!) is a good idea.

I got a great deal with a Groupon coupon to take the Freedom Trail through the Histrionic Academy and it was a GREAT choice!!! our tour guide was the most mature in the age department of all the guides that works for the Academy. He was very very good at explaining the history of how North America came into existence and the struggles to break from British rule, of course resulting in the Revolutionary War. I found it particularly interesting to visit the Granary Burying Ground, established in 1660, located on Tremont street, where Paul Revere, James Otis, three signers (out of 56 ) of the Declaration of Independence :Samuel Adams, John Hancock and Robert Treat Paine, as well as the the five victims of the Boston Massacre were buried. Something else that was very interesting on the trail was why and how the Boston Tea Party occurred. Our last stop was the historic Faneuil Hall, which is interesting as well. It was the meeting place to discuss the Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, the "tea crisis" and other grievances against Britain. The area, as is today, was an area for merchants to sell goods as well. They sold fish, meats and produce too. Overall, this was a very worthwhile tour. There are a couple of things to keep in mind: 1). It may be a good idea to go early. I was there right at opening time and it was already busy in mid October. 2). If you get the same guide I had, be prepared for an over enthusiastic, to the point of being overbearing, which to some people (especially children) might be a bit scary. He was very very good at explaining things and quite friendly though. Just make sure to go and experience the Freedom Trail with Histrionic Academy and you'll be a smarter, better informed person of U.S. history!!!
