The most incredible thing about the turquoise museum is the building in which it is located. It's worth going just for that! We'd have been even happier if the coffee shop had been up and running. [It was closed due to Covid-19.] There was a lot to learn about! The frustrating thing was trying to use the phone/internet system to listen to the videos, which were not really informational. It would be helpful to have a video showing many of the stones and their stories rather than having to try to read so many detailed signs. But we did really have a good time talking with the owners and learning about the family history. For 8 years the museum has only done online ticket sales; they do not open on days when no tickets have been prepurchased, so you can't count on finding it open for spur-of-the-moment entrance.

Very impressed with this museum. The articles were impressive and full of information. We spent 2-3 hours in the museum and were never bored and we learned a lot. Very well done folks, well done,!

if you like looking at pieces of turquoise and various ways to use it, then you'll like this museum. I was more interested in the Castle and its history, and was very disappointed. Museum staff either knew nothing of Gertrude Zachary, or wouldn't 'talk'. Isn't her story a part of Albuquerque? Also, the overhead music was very annoying and did not fit with the displays or the environment.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Since our founding in 1993 we have worked very hard on our displays to "Showcase The World's Most Colorful Gem". We are glad you enjoyed the displays. I'm sorry we don't display the information you were looking for, The castle was built in 2008 for Gertrude Schmidt, We are working on a guided tour on the castle architecture. The building that holds our gift shop and cafe has a really cool history, it was built in the late 1800's and has been a blacksmith shop, a buggy show, an art supply store, several artists' studios (Including R.C. Gorman's), an antique store, a building supply store; and we are still doing research on what other uses it had.
