Sean Washington, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and full of great stories he shared. We were promptly greeted at the Embassy Suites in an air conditioned coach and taken to three different farms to tour. Breathtaking grounds at the first one, up close interaction in the stables at the second one (Sean even brought peppermint candies for us to feed the horses and believe me they were waiting for their treats), and walking the grounds at the third farm watching mommies and babies graze in the fields. Our last stop was the horse hospital where we were able to see how the horses were cared for. There was nothing happening at the time we were there, but interesting to view the procedure room. I have two recommendations...bring something to drink. It was hot walking around and some hand wipes because your hands get dirty petting the horses. And I’d bring my own peppermint candies to make sure the horses in the back of the stable get as many treats as the horses in the front. Overall great experience, would do it again in a heartbeat, and reasonably priced. Don’t forget to tip Sean. He really does a great job!!

Shawn and his son provided an extraordinary tour for my daughter and me. We booked a morning tour for a hot day. Apparently several people also booked an afternoon tour. We were the only bookings for the morning time. Rather than move us to the afternoon, Shawn and his son conducted the tour for just the two of us, without even asking if we might change the time to better meet his schedule. He is phenomenal! His knowledge of and passion for Kentucky horses exudes from him. He has established relationships within the horse community that provide his guests access to interior and exterior areas of private farms. Being about to pet various horses, as well as feed them peppermint candy treats was a unique and treasured part of the tour. Historical information and stories of personal experiences flow from him during the tours. He capably and in-depth answered any questions we asked. The warmth and hospitality of this father and son are something with which most of the tourists will enjoy. The integrty and thougtfulness shown by honoring our booking despite the low numbers is something most guides would not have done. Thank you so very much for our special and memorable Kentucky Horse Visit morning!
