I went on the Verde Canyon RR on Tues. Feb.12, 2019. If you choose a pretty day like I did you will LOVE this adventure. I chose to do the "coach" seating due to the fact that if you want the "FULL" effect of this ride for the sightseeing and photos opportunity, you will want to be in the outside car in the gorgeous sunshine and fresh air. Was a beautiful ride observing the wonders of the AZ mts. and landscape. I would highly recommend this event. You won't regret it!! Nice train, nice people, and affordable.

ARRIVE EARLY. There are picnic tables and a gift shop. They sell food (have lunch) and drinks at the station. Arrive at least an hour before the train departs. There's ample parking, and it's free. On the way to the train, you pass near a town called Jerome. It's maybe 15 minutes from the train. Give yourself time to check that place out and do some shopping. There's a spot to pull over on the right as you go up the hill to take in the view and read a sign about the town. We saw a brochure for the train ride in the hotel lobby. We went online to buy tickets for the next day. The schedule online appeared as if there were no tickets for the next few days. I called and was able to buy two First Class tickets for the next day. Whew! The train goes about twenty miles, then returns. It's about four hours. It was a smooth ride and there is a bathroom in the car. The train and (station) facilities are clean and neat. The views during the ride are spectacular (bring your camera). There are four 'outside' cars so you can feel the breeze and have (mostly) unobstructed views. We were seated near a group of loud retired folks who thought they were at Cracker Barrel. It was difficult to hear the narration at times, so we went to the outside car. In First Class, the tables for two have the best views, but the opposite side of the train car has comfortable looking couches with low tables, so you might like that. I can't tell you about the other cars. They provided us with free bottles of water and a buffet of chicken wings, small sandwiches and cookies. I think there was fruit also. It was a chilly day, and they actually had hot chocolate for $2; and it was fantastic! There was a bar in the front of the car. Riding First Class and seeing Jerome made for a real nice day. Sedona is not too far away, so think about checking that town out too. Lot's of shops there.
