The area of Waikiki was famous for its ancient burials and sacrificial heiau (Hawaiian temples). It was the seat of power for Hawaii’s ali‘i (chiefs) for over 300 years. Waikiki is also famous for eyewitness accounts of the legendary night marchers.

Lopaka was a wonderful tour guide and told stories from his own experience as a Hawaiian which I loved, he knows his stuff! I loved this tour so much I also attended Lopaka’s downtown Honolulu tour the following day! This one was a bit creepy and the storytelling was phenomenal. If you love ghost stories I would definitely recommend this, it’s fantastic. Make sure to bring a flashlight if you don’t have one on your cell phone and wear comfortable shoes. I’ll definitely be back next time I visit Hawaii.

Lopaka's Night Marchers Tour is THE top ghost tour we have been on. (Go JUST for Lopaka's storytelling of this chilling time in Hawai'ian history, and how it lives on in real-time in Honolulu). We had a "message" come through at the end of our tour. Lopaka told us that all night he had sensed a pet around us, and sure enough, when we got back to our hotel, we saw photographic evidence on our iPhone of a ghost dog that looked exactly like our dear fur baby Meadow, who had passed the year before. What a special night, and one that made our visit to Honolulu memorable. Highly, highly recommend!
