Brooks was an awesome teacher. Fun, relaxed, and smart. We did a semi-private lesson, and his great teaching had us both up and surfing on the first try, and for the whole lesson. After two hours, we're ready for going out on our own with rental boards, but we hope to bump into Brooks again. He also had some good local restaurant tips. Incidentally, there is a move in Maui to stop the surf companies from parking in the beach parking lot, forcing them to open store fronts that will add to their costs, and make it inconvenient for customers, so things may change by the time you're there. Also, I was happy that Brooks connected us with a photographer who shot our lesson from shore with pro gear, and sold us a CD with all the images for $35.

We booked a semi-private lesson for our two teenagers. They caught their first wave within five minutes and were absolutely loving it. My wife and I watched from the beach and were so proud of them, but it couldn't have happened without Brooks' amazing instruction. Hands down the best experience our kids had on Maui; so good that they begged us to book again, so they went for a second lesson to gain some advance skills. Would we do it again? No question.

A friend who lives in Kehei recommended Waves Hawaii for my first lesson, stating they were the best surfing school in town. My fiancé and I had the BEST Time and decided it was our favorite thing we did in Maui! We signed up for the group lesson, but it turned out our group was only me and my fiancé - private lesson for the price of the group! Brooks was our instructor and we both can't say enough great things about his lesson. After a quick tutorial on land, we got right in the water, and with just a little coaching, we were able to get up and surf! I definitely wouldn't have been able to get up without Brooks helping us along the first few times until we could push off on our own. Fabulous experience, with Fabulous staff! Can't wait to do it again!
