We were visiting Napa Valley for a business conference and booked a hot air balloon ride the morning before leaving. We were not told that there could be an alternate location. However I understand that safety is the primary concern and appreciate the opportunity to cancel for another day. Unfortunately that would not have worked out for us so we decided to fly even though it was over Winters . As others have mentioned, it is mostly a view of farmland, tomatoes, and walnut trees. For a first-time hot air balloon experience, it is fine andar pilot Chad did his best to improve the experience by giving us a longer flight lasting approximately an hour and 20 minutes. The Landing was smooth and he clearly knew what he was doing . My biggest objection to how this was run was the lack of restroom facilities at the site of launch. Given that coffee was served and we had stopped at Starbucks beforehand, it was unreasonable to load people into a van for an hour then stand around for at least a half an hour waiting for the balloons to fill ,fly for an hour and 20 minutes and then come back for another 45 minutes without any restroom facilities. I had asked Chad if he could stop somewhere on the way to the balloon launch site and he told me that there was no place to stop. Once I saw several fast food restaurants and other options next to the road I said rather assertively that he needed to pull over and he did but he was not happy about it. The breakfast after flight was lovely and so were the bottomless mimosas. The grounds of Domaine Chandon are also lovely, the weather was perfect and the wine tasting very nice. Therefore the 3-star rating. If we had another option to come back and fly over Napa Valley, we would have canceled this trip.
