Your experience is very unique because it is on a specifically designed whale watching boat. There will be only up to 13 guests aboard so there is plenty of room inside and out for everyone. Your experienced captain is a local resident with a great deal of knowledge of the wildlife and area, and lots of good stories to tell. Our tour length ensures that you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beauty of our area and the incredible wildlife. We’ve been sharing our part of the world with enthusiastic guests for over 25 years and would love to share it with you, too.

À quoi s'attendre

Hoonah

We will meet you at the Excursions Hub and transport you in our van to Hoonah (a 5-minute drive), where you will board the boat for your whale and wildlife tour. After returning to the harbor, you'll be met by the van and driven back to Icy Strait Point.

Glacier Winds was a fantastic option for Whale Watching, great family ran business, clean boats, friendly staff, and very knowledgeable on the whales in the area, where to find them and the history of the land.

Glacier Winds Charters is a small family run whale watching excursion company based in Icy Strait. After booking, Glacier Winds provided very thorough information about what to expect, where to meet them for pickup, and what to bring during the excursion. Teresa promptly picked us up at the arranged location and took us to their ship. The ship we went on held approximately 12 passengers, boat captain and one crew member. It was clean and comfortable and offered viewing areas inside or out on the deck. Free snacks and hot chocolate were available to us for free. The ship also had a restroom facility onboard. Casey the family son was our captain. Casey was very professional, patient, and passionate about his job. During our trip we were able to view many orcas and humpback whales. All the people in our group that went on this excursion would highly recommend Glacier Winds.

We booked this as an excursion on our Alaskan cruise and could not BE HAPPIER that we did! We wanted a tour with a smaller group, so that we didn't have to look over several people to see the highlights. The communication leading up to the day was excellent, and we had no trouble finding our meet up stop. Our transport diver (the mom) was so nice and pointed out details about the town on the way to the boat. Captain Casey and his mate were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions no matter how trivial they might have seemed. It's a family operated business and they thought of everything, including snacks and hot chocolate. This was by far, the highlight our Alaskan cruise experience! We would highly recommend Glacier Wind Charters to anyone looking to book an excursion in Icy Strait Point, Alaska... you won't be disappointed.
