We recently did a 2 hour + tour with Brandon as our guide. This was an incredible way to view the desert from within, combining mild exertion with a thorough education of where we were and what we were seeing. The bikes take about 10-15 minutes to get used to (no click in or straps on pedals/ throttle and rear brake take some right handed dexterity). Brandon explained how to handle each section of the tour which includes a trail that traverses dry, sandy arroyos, moderate hill climbing, gentle curves-all in nearly silence, as the bikes make no noise with the electric motors. An interesting aside is that some of the bikes are former WWII German courier bikes that have been rehabbed and upgraded for desert use.
Brandon also does a wonderful job of taking your picture and videos from the head of the pack, and those are immediately emailed/drop boxed to your email with no additional charge. $100/person plus tip was very reasonable given the care and expertise of a guide like Brandon. We learned about vegetation, surrounding mountain ranges, historical facts re the Sonoran desert as well as all of the indigenous wildlife/birds/reptiles and plants.
This is a great way to break up days of hiking, giving your legs a break, and seeing the desert from a completely unique perspective.
We highly recommend Brandon and Journey Arizona!
