I'm a fit 59 year old but bike riding is not something I do much of. The electric bikes makes this a fun & easy way to experience desert trails. After a brief but complete training on using the bike the guide leads the group on to the trails. We made several stops along the way to learn about desert plants, geology & critters. Guide would also stop to give us rest & hydrate and to review how to handle (pedal fast/slow) the next leg of the trail. The most difficult part of ride is mastering the steering which can be challenging when trying to avoid the many rocks and ruts in the narrow trail. My bike didn't have any place to store water or personal items. I recommend a fanny or bike pack for personal items (phone, camera, cash) and the guide has a backpack with water he supplied. One rider brought their own backpack but that seemed to me overkill unless that's how you roll. I took a 9am ride and wore sorts and a tee shirt with a light jacket that I didn't need at all. Obviously, dress according to weather and layers are best. Guide also took photo's and videos which he emailed to the group. I would do this tour again & after sharing experience with friends they want to take the tour as well.
