It was a great ride I enjoyed the ride . It was alittle cold wish I had known . It was my first time on a horse but I had fun so did my two friends . Suggest maybe let people know it will be cold or sell some sweatshirts. I would recommend taking the ride!

As someone who had travelled at great expense from the UK, and who was super excited to ride the beautiful horses in the Nevada desert, I have never felt so disappointed and deflated. The staff don’t seem to care at all, and have a “tough cowboy” attitude that is just abrasive and ignorant. They have no appreciation for how tough the terrain is, or for the fact that people don’t ride every day and even if they do, they don’t ride exactly like them. They stuck us all on horses/ mules that they matched us to, and whilst the rest of the group sat comfortably with the correct stirrup lengths, my legs were fully straight and barely touching the stirrups at all, and the saddle was leaning to the right from the outset. They adjusted the saddle, blamed the horse for being too fat and then blamed me because my legs are too short. They told me I’d be fine, and not knowing how treacherous the trail was going to get, I was reassured by how casual they were about it and felt pretty confident that I’d be okay. I was wrong. One of the workers was a man in his 30s/ 40s who from the outset had a negative attitude. I think he was trying to be sarcastic but it just came across as ignorant and disrespectful. He told my friend to “kick your horse like you’d kick your kids” and was extremely heavy handed and cruel toward the horses. He also went on about how much he hated Las Vegas and was negative about everything. He would also just shout the horses name you were on and then bark orders at you and heavily criticise what you were doing with no clear solution. My saddle kept slipping and he said it was because I was leaning that way, even though all of the videos show me leaning to the other side to try and compensate, and also show that my right stirrup was longer than the left which is why it was unbalanced. He shouted that I was the one being unbalanced and that stirrups are pointless anyway and I shouldn’t need them. We were going up and down steep inclines and up and down 1-2ft steps which the horses had to navigate. He got so rude and nasty that halfway through the ride I began to cry. Being jetlagged and also having my heart set on the experience, I became so overwhelmed I was sobbing all the way back to the stables. Every time we had to go down a step, I had to grip with everything I had to stay on and almost fell off so many times. The rude man was still shouting at me as I cried telling me how badly I was doing and how I need to stop pushing into my stirrups. Everyone else was fine because theirs were the right length and they all used them how stirrups are used. My friend is an ex professional jockey and my mum is an ex Olympic groom, and both saw the pictures and videos and agreed that the stirrups were dangerously long and that it’s a miracle I stayed on the horse at all on the terrain we were on. I’ve never felt so terrified and one of the female staff put her horse in front of mine and tried to be helpful and keep me calm. When we got back to the stables I was still sobbing, and the staff decided to blame the horse! The horse, in fact all of them, were absolutely impeccable and incredible animals. They were definitely broken in spirit and you could tell they had been trained with a heavy hand, and using them as a scapegoat for their sub par stirrups and saddles just showed how little respect they had for their animals. They were pushy with tips with the other members of the group, and at the end of the ride when I sat sobbing at a picnic bench, the man who had been nasty to me came over and started being defensive and horrible again. I told him he was rude and ruined my ride, and he replied with “I’m sorry if you FELT I was rude” and started picking apart every single thing I did again. Every issue was met with him gaslighting me, even though it was quite clearly a problem with the stirrups. In the end I told him I didn’t pay all that money to be spoken to like that and walked away. One of the other staff members said she “didn’t know what got into him” and was mildly apologetic. There was no offer of a refund and no ownership of the mistakes they had made. I help my mum look after two horses and the way these were looked after was not up to my standards at all. I’ve also spoken to multiple riders who have all said my stirrups were too long for that type of terrain and they should have put me on a saddle/ stirrups that fitted. I’m honestly disgusted by the ignorant and rude behaviour of the man who was working that day, and the whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve luckily ridden a few times before as a teen so knew how to hold on, but someone who had never ridden would not have been able to hold on and could have got horribly injured. Just remember that they make you sign a waiver for a reason, because they will never take responsibility for their failures. Do not put money into their pockets if you can help it. I’ll never see my money again and I just don’t want anyone else making the same mistake.
