72 deg outside on June 26, but 60 deg inside their premium ‘gold star’ service cars- the rest of the train was fine. Forget paying more for gold star if you don’t want to be miserable during the journey, in spite if multiple passenger complaints.

Took the Gold Leaf dome car from Denali to Fairbanks and the scenery was beautiful. But I felt the Gold Leaf service and cleanliness was lacking. Train guide spent a little too much time on the loud speaker emphasing what the dome car guests were seeing and doing and demeaning the 'standard' car riders. Food was not that great. Would have taken the standard car or the attached seasonal Wilderness Express domed cars which were absolutely wonderful which we took from Anchorage to Denali.

This is the easiest and prettiest way to get from one place to another. Very comfortable. Crew on the Wilderness Express Dome Train entertained us like a Saturday Night Live routine as they went about us serving drinks and taking orders. Plenty of wildlife was seen. The Dining Car was very nice, tablecloths were white, service excellent and a wonderful expericence.
