I set out with hopes of a fun activity for Mother's Day. Imagine my surprise when both my husband and teenage son agreed that this was not only fun, they want to re-visit 2 of our stops and next October when it's much cooler out, try the Church Hill Tour. SUCCESS! Thank you to Rachel our tour guide. She did a wonderful job of providing history, humor and personal attention to our group of 12. Our two favorite stops were Jackson's Beer Garden and Smokehouse as well as Greenleaf's Pool Room.

My daughter scheduled this fun afternoon as a Mother’s Day gift. Our guide Rachel did a great job as we discovered new eating establishments, sampling their food, hearing the history of not only the restaurants but also the area. Appreciated the owners in 4 of the 5 businesses sharing their stories and sending the pride they have in their business. By walking I was able to appreciate sights that would have been missed by driving by!

Actually I felt like a tourist ,even though a local, since I learned some new things about Richmond. Our group was from everywhere.Brian is a well versed in this very dynamic area, not to mention a terrific guide. The restaurants we visited were eclectic and delicious from Chinese Mexican at Wong Gonzales to Pop's market where there is no menu of the day, and MamaJ's southern cooking. Or how about Stoplight for gelatos? or a game of pool at Green Leaf? We did not leave the area hungry. We waddled away after a good walk and interesting asides on the neighborhood history. You do need your walking shoes because we covered a lot of the neighborhood.
