Most bizarre gaslighting experience! We booked the Sightseeing Sunset Tour that began at 6:30 pm and it was very dark by that point. The tour was going well until I got hit in the face with a tree branch.
While it stunned me, it did not draw blood, so l decided to just mention it to the driver later.
So the tour ended (20 minutes early and without the Golden Gate Bridge stop it mentioned), and I let the driver know on my way out about the branch. That's where it got bizarre. Here was conversation:
Me: "Hey just want you to know that I got hit by a branch in case you want to check that out tomorrow to clear it."
Paraphrasing the Driver: "You need to look forward so those don't hit you."
Me: "I was looking forward, but it's dark and was sitting in the middle so I could really only see the person's head in front of me."
Driver: "Well, there are no trees sticking out on the route."
Me: "Well, there obviously are. I don't want anything from you: no refund or anything. I just want you to know so that it wouldn't hurt anyone else more badly."
Driver: "We clear the trees; there are no trees on the route."
Me: "Ok, I am not making this up. What hit me in the face made of wood and leaves?"
*He then proceeded to point to my husband. Implying he hit me.
Super unnecessary and so awkward; I did not want anything from them but to fix it for the future people on the trek. I had expected something like, "I'm sorry that happened, we will check the route tomorrow to trim the branches sticking out." Obviously, that's not what happened.
