Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Przegląd
In the warm and dark lagoon waters lies a natural phenomenon of glowing blue waters alive with activity. The swirling of your hand, every paddle stroke, and the rolling wake off of your kayak all sparkle throughout the darkness. Not only do fish leave trails, dolphins look like torpedoes, and manatees a slow and graceful submarine. Many guests compare the experience to Pandora of “Avatar.” Some even recall the bioluminescence scene in “Life of Pi”  as the gentle plankton leave a trickling glow when you hold it in your hands and let it trickle down your arm. Though some may jokingly blame this on NASA runoff, it is actually the biological response of microscopic algae called a dinoflagellate. The perfectly natural and harmless concentration of organisms produces light before your very eyes, often existing in millions per liter of water. Your tour will include a ton of information about these rare and exotic creatures with the most experienced guides in the area

Took the tour 7/9/2018 and it was wonderful. Our guides, Jess, Cody, and Rebecca were great! We saw so much; bioluminescence, dolphins, manatees, a few comb jellies even. I will definitely do this trip again. It was a very memorable experience. I really liked how professional and organized the guides were. They answered any questions we had with great knowledge and patience. I was highly impressed!

We had a group of 10 (one child, one teenager and eight adults) who were extremely excited about our tour. It started out great but towards the end a storm blew in with high winds and that is when everything went bad. The tour guides at the beginning assured us no one would be left behind. When wind blew in the lead guide told us to head back to where we started and then took off and left us!!! There were at least 30 people in the tour. There were sandbars that we got stuck on and had trouble getting over. My nephew (9 and autistic) and I got stuck and thankfully his parents were close and were able to help us get free. Another couple in our group got stuck on the same sandbar and after 5-10 minutes to trying to get free the husband got out of they kayak and pushed them free. When we managed to get back to the cove where we launched they had everyone still in their kayaks and talking about the jellyfish. At this time, my nephew had had enough and wanted out. When I pulled up to the shore the man there told me I couldn't get out yet! I told him we were getting out! Then I found out my husband and niece were still unaccounted for! It was discovered that none of the guides radios were working! They sent out several people out to look for them and after about 15 minutes they returned without my husband and niece but said they were okay. It was 22 minutes after we returned that my husband and niece finally made it back! Danielle, one of the guides, stayed with my husband and niece the whole time. She tied their kayak to hers and tried to pull them in. She constantly talked and tried to soothe my niece who was freaking out. She blew her whistle three times and used her flashlight but no one from A Day Away Tours returned to help! They were taken in by another kayaking company who took them to shore and after the storm passed helped them back to shore. Thankfully we all made back safe. The lack of safety measures by the company it could have turned out differently. Thankfully there was a house that was lit up that we could use as a frame of reference to make sure we went down the right tributary or we could have gotten lost going down the wrong one! The guide who was supposed to make sure everyone got back safely was one of the first ones back to the cove! Will never use this company again!!!
