Boone Hall is one of the most iconic and well preserved plantations to visit. The grounds are beautiful and the isle of oaks upon entry are magnificent. Make sure to plan 3-4 hours to see it all. Lots to learn and see on this plantation. The Main house allows tours through a few rooms on the first floor. The presentation about the slaves and their way of life was very moving. The under age laborers finger prints within the bricks that were made by children of slaves was a very powerful aspect of this visit. All and All a very beautiful plantation and working farm.

Our tour bus guide Cathy (with a “C”) lol was extremely full of information on the way to the plantation and was very personable! The plantation was just beautiful especially the 200yr old oaks lining the long driveway. The main house tour guide was hilarious and mad the tour very enjoyable . The Gullah presentation was interesting and I learned many different traditions with their people.

Jay, our driver was very professional and friendly and had some interesting information about the city of Charleston while on the way to the plantation. At the plantation all of the guides were very knowledgeable and glad to chat with you and answer questions after their “speech”. It was great hearing the history of this plantation which was a working plantation until the 1950s when it began opening its doors for tourism, events, and movie/television shoots. The property is huge and beautiful. It was a little disappointing that you only see about 1/3 of the mansion on the property, but it’s apparently still a living space at times so that’s understandable. The owner still lives on site and uses it for guest quarters.
