This was the worst trip we have ever taken. The captain spotted a boat that was fishing that had a fish on the line. He circled the fishing boat until they caught the beautiful sailfish. The fishing boat then gaffed the fish and clubbed it to death. Our captain, Tim Bates, then blew his horn and applauded. My wife and I were very upset by this scene. My wife was crying. We came to see live fish. If we wanted to catch fish, we would have booked a fishing trip. I told Tim how upset the fishing scene had made my wife. He said that big game fishing is big in Hawaii and we need to accept the reality of death. Later he took me aside and told me how I had ruined everyone's trip. I really don't think anyone else knew how upset we were, especially with the loudness of the boat engine. We felt like we were at the Captain's mercy. We wanted to get off but we had to listen to his long winded history of Hawaii. This captain was an insensitive and egotistical blowhard. We were glad when the trip was over.
