Very old bikes some with holes in the saddle. My chain jumped out 3 times and the gear didn't work.

Biking through Central Park is the best way to see the whole park. This bike rental company is ok if your standards for bike quality aren't too high. The chain fell off one of the bikes in our group - luckily it was near the end as we were walking the bikes back to the shop. I know how to fix the chain but wasn't really interested in getting chain oil all over me. We did this though a Groupon so the price seemed reasonable although after reading some of the other reviews it looks like there are even better deals to be had.

Bikes were affordable and quite comfortable. Had to wait awhile to be seen to get bikes.
