I had a good diving experience with Dive Oahu - well equipped boat, experienced and attentive dive team - so for the actual dives I would give them 5 stars. I purchased a 3 dive package 3 weeks in advance of my trip to HI, wanting to plan my dives out as much in advance as possible to insure a spot. My first dive was a Wednesday wreck/reef dive and I expected it to be one of the long-range charters, but instead they went to the Sea Tiger closer in. I wanted to do a Night Dive, and the only opportunity to do that was the very next day. We went back to - you guessed it- the Sea Tiger. So I saw the same wreck and reef twice. I sometimes have some ear issues, and those 2 deep dives, 2 days in a row proved to be problematic for me. I rebooked my Friday dive to Monday afternoon, hoping my ears would clear over the weekend. Instead the ear squeeze resulted in a bacterial infection of the ears/sinuses and I was unable to complete the third dive. I emailed them on Sunday to let them know that diving Monday would be impossible, that I was planning to see a Doctor on Monday (so I could provide a Drs excuse), and I asked if they would re-bill me for the 2 dives I completed at full price and a) refund me the balance or b) apply it to another activity that they offered that I COULD DO, such as snorkeling. I got the following reply:
“Your booking was for a 3 day dive package which discounts each charter. The package has already been used, there is no refund available if you do not dive all three dives.”
So my advise to anyone considering this dive company is to be aware that there is no refund or re-billing of any kind, for any reason, and no opportunity to apply those funds to any other activity they offer if your schedule or your health precludes you from being able to use the full package. I’d buy them one at a time so that you are not locked into a specific schedule and a non-refundable, non-transferable, non-negotiable package.
