Picking a star rating for this was difficult. Jacquie was sorta knowledgable and took us to some cool places but I had such higher expectations from the other reviews, website, and price paid.
When I first booked the tour, she emailed me a couple days later that she was overbooked. We couldn’t do a later tour but agreed to meet her earlier. She was very easy to communicate with regarding the change and made it seem like we would still get our full tour. However, I didn’t know that many of the usual places wouldn’t be open that early. We also had paid extra for the ‘Abbondanza’ tour and didn’t receive the extras as described on the website. She seemed rushed and stepped aside to make phone calls twice while we were looking around the shops she took us to. The food was great and I was glad to have her recommendations, but it was not enough for lunch, certainly the least amount of food of any food tour I’ve been on. She concluded with us only a little more than an hour after our scheduled meet time and clearly had the next tour booked before ours should have ended.
During the tour we were enjoying ourselves but it ended abruptly and we weren’t sure how to react. Upon reflection, I don’t think i can recommend this tour. I’m sure the tour would have been better if we had her full attention but I’m not sure who’s fault that is- maybe I should have cancelled after the first email, but she insisted she could still do our tour. I think Chef Jacquie is well meaning but ill equipped to be running a food tour company on her own.
