Every year around the holidays, I like to take my goddaughter and her family on a special outing in Manhattan, whether for a show, a special shopping trip, or some other interesting attraction. This year I decided a food tour would be fun, and I'm so glad I chose Ahoy's Little Italy/Chinatown Food tour, it was better than I could have hoped for. All of the food that we had at the tastings, including cheeses, desserts, pasta, noodles and dim sum was beyond delicious. Our tour guide, Alana, was enthusiastic, friendly and super knowledgeable about all of the whole area. She was also very patient, which was lucky for us because my group of 6 was a bit unwieldy, running late at the start and lagging behind at a couple of places; Alana was super nice and understanding about that, for which I was grateful. In addition to recounting the history of the 6 cafes/shops/restaurants we visited, she also had some great crime stories to share. We were lucky to have pleasant weather for the tour, which just made it even better. I would personally recommend not eating before the tour, because by the end of the three hours it feels like you've had a good brunch with a nice side of culture! Overall, a great tour and I highly recommend it for locals (I myself was born and raised in Brooklyn) as well as out-of-towners. My goddaughter and her sister both said it was their favorite day of the whole holiday season, so it makes a great gift for sure.

This culinary food tour was absolutely AMAZING...a highlight of our trip to NYC! We are from New Orleans and we love to eat, and learn about different food cultures. We highly recommend you book this tour! We enjoyed mouthwatering samplings from each stop on the tour, along with a bit of history of each location about the owners and families who live and work in Little Italy and Chinatown! Alana and Liz were very informative and fun! It was easy to see how much they love their job! The relationship these ladies have with the owners is like they are part of the family...and that's exactly how they made all of us feel at their establishments! The guides took you back in time, while describing the history of these fabulous places,and then bringing you all the way to where they stand in the present time -- gives you such an appreciation for where food really comes from! So, one suggestion... don't eat before your tour...save your palate and leave your stomach empty... because you will be so full after your culinary tasting tour! You will want to savor each and every bite! We participated in the tour on a Friday, and went back to our faves on Sunday morning to take some "food souvenirs" home to New Orleans! Would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks again, ladies, for such a memorable experience!

My teenage son and I had a GREAT time during our Little Italy/Chinatown Food Tour!!!! I don't know which one of us enjoyed it more?! Our tour guide (Alana) is the main reason our tour was so great! She was extremely knowledgeable not just with the foods we tasted, but with the history behind the establishments and neighborhoods we visited. She kept things moving along at the perfect pace! She had a great sense of humor! You could tell she loves her job! The dim sum we had was worth the price of the entire tour! We'll definitely choose Ahoy again for our next food tour!
