The tour was great! We had such a great time seeing the city. We live in the Peninsula just south of SF but we wanted a night as tourists and this fit the bill. Hunter, our tour guide, was great. He kept everyone laughing and entertained, but he was also informative as far as tours go. He gave us a glimpse into some back alley (literally and figuratively) stuff in Chinatown and North Beach.
Our first stop was the Fortune Cookie Factory. As far as that goes, it was an interesting thing to see but didn't really derive much from it aside from some free goodies. Luckily, we didn't spend too much time there.
Onto the Tea Shop, where we enjoyed some different varieties of tea, complete with a demonstration on how to properly seek out, prepare, and serve tea. One of my favorite highlights of the night.
Next was the Chinese Bakery to enjoy a few pieces of Dim Sum, complete with more delicious tea. We sampled a few things here and there, and for those who have never had proper Chinese Dim Sum before, this was an authentic experience. The food was good, and prepared just prior to our arrival so our wait wasn't very long.
We circled back through Chinatown and headed towards North Beach. We saw Jack Keruoac Alley, which transitions Chinatown into North Beach. A little history on some bookstores, clubs, and churches, and a short walk later we were at a pizzeria. We had to wait outside for about 20-30 minutes, but Hunter kept us entertained and quenched our thirst with some wine from inside. Once we got inside (and out of the now cold night), we had more wine and some delicious pizza.
Then the tour was over. We said goodbye to our fellow tour-mates and hung out for a while longer. Hunter gave us some recommendations on where to go in the city for various sightseeing efforts, bars, restaurants, etc.
My wife and I have been to various places around the world and have been on some good, quality tours. I would rank this one up there with them. Highly recommended for those looking to experience a city from another perspective, even if you live there!
