We’re not really into art museums, and this was glass art - beautiful but..… However the two hour glass blowing demonstration was worth the stop. It’s in an auditorium with four large TV screens for close-up views of the work with a person describing what is happening. We saw a ~24” platter formed, with about six folks working with it - one main glass blower from Italy. And the cafe was a good lunch spot.

The Corning Company has assembled a phenomenal collection of examples of glass item from thousands of years ago to the modern age. This museum's building itself is worth the visit. There are a number of demonstrations each day on glass blowing, and you can even arrange to do it yourself. The staff is friendly and helpful, the parking lots are a block away, and you can walk or take the shuttle bus that runs every few minutes. There is a large cafeteria with a wide selection of food, and the inevitable gift shop. My only complaint is that I don't need to see handbags and glass items made in China on the shelves - it should be almost exclusively made by Corning! In September the crowds were fine - I was told that it can be quite crowded during the summer.

Thanks for visiting and for leaving a review. Our tickets are good for two consecutive days of admission, as a few hours is not enough to fully experience all we have to offer. The Shops do have a section dedicated entirely to artisan glass, for those who are interested in a locally-made and handmade souvenir, and over half of what we sell in The Shops is made in the United States. It sounds like you found good value in admission as well and we're excited to have made the world of glass accessible to you in your travels. All the best!

Visited in August with a friend and went back in September with my husband. This is the best museum I’ve ever been to! They offer free guided tours, amazing glass blowing demonstrations, other glass related demonstrations and more. So many beautiful things to see and so much to learn about glass! The gift shop is beautiful also. Lots of staff there to help with answering questions. We took 2 guided tours. Oir first guide in August was a lady who was very professional and explained numerous pieces of work in many areas. I don’t know how she spoke and smiled so much at the same time! Our male guide we had in September was knowledgeable and friendly but he wasted a great deal of time talking about his family and even answered a text from his wife during the tour. I’d rather hear about what the museum pieces instead because their stories are interesting. This is a must place to see and worth the trip to Corning!
