This tour was an amazing experience! Hannah, the first mate, was absolutely incredible. She provided such knowledgeable explanations of the wildlife and how to interact with them and helped steer us toward a bird pile where we saw dozens and dozens of dolphins together. It was a highlight of our trip to Dana Point. The boat was also very comfortable and the brownies at the end were delicious and perfect after expending so much energy in the excitement of the tour.

Our family of five had an absolutely spectacular experience with Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari in Dana Point! We chose the smaller Orca boat, and it was worth every single penny—a more intimate, up-close, and personal adventure on the water. From the moment we boarded, Captain Stacey and Guide Janelle made the trip an absolute delight. They were not only professional and knowledgeable but also fun, engaging, and passionate about marine life. They shared fascinating insights about the local ecosystem, the behaviors of the dolphins and whales, and even pointed out subtle details we would have missed on our own. We were incredibly lucky to see multiple gray whales—watching these gentle giants surface and glide through the water was breathtaking. But the real showstoppers were the dolphins! We saw tons of them, playfully riding alongside our boat, leaping through the waves, and giving us an up-close look at their incredible grace and energy. It felt like we were part of their world for a moment. For those planning their trip, we highly recommend bringing a small picnic—cheese, crackers, and a little wine or your favorite snacks make the perfect addition to this already magical experience. Being out on the open water with incredible wildlife and some tasty bites? Pure perfection. We will definitely be booking this tour again—especially when friends or family visit from out of town. It’s an experience we won’t soon forget, and we can’t wait to do it all over again! The experience was 1st class from the pins they gave our granddaughters to recognize their birthdays to the expert knowledgeable staff. While other boats were searching for a whale our eagle eyed crew spotted one. The dolphin’s were amazing. Traveling thru the water in front, beside and under us. My granddaughters birthday gift was very memorable.
