Experience the enchantment of Monument Valley and immerse yourself in the Navajo culture with a homegrown guide!

The Dreamcatcher tour package is a 4 hour evening Navajo guided tour. It starts with a 2.5 hour evening tour through the iconic landscape of Monument Valley and allows you to explore backcountry routes and restricted areas. After the evening tour a traditional Navajo dinner will await you deep in the valley close to Rain God Mesa. The tour will conclude with a special entertainment program during which you can enjoy some traditional dancing, chanting(singing), drumming and storytelling while sitting around a campfire under the stars.

Participation in the Dreamcatcher tour adventure offers the perfect way to learn about the Navajo culture and to experience all the beauty and magic of Monument Valley! During the 2.5 hour tour you will visit sites such as the amazing Big Hogan arch, the Sun's Eye arch and ancient petroglyphs (rock art), the Ear of the Wind arch, the famous Totem Pole and Yei bi chei rock formations, John Fords Point and many more. You will also visit a traditional Navajo Hogan where you can witness the Navajo prepare their wool and demonstrate their craft of rug weaving! As the sun begins to fade in the west and the stars begin to fill the Monument Valley skies, you will then visit the scenic setting of Rain God Mesa where our Navajo cooks will prepare traditional Navajo tacos with homemade frybread and grill steaks over a campfire.This night you will be able to enjoy your dinner in the greatest outdoor setting you can imagine! The evening will continue with a special Navajo cultural entertainment program. A Navajo dancer dressed in full regalia, will perform various dances while a master of ceremonies drums and chants and tells stories near an open campfire, and under a sky full of Monument Valley stars! This evening Dreamcatcher tour adventure with the Navajo guided valley tour, the special Navajo dinner and cultural entertainment has a total duration of four hours.

Tour with John from Simpson’s tours was just wonderful. So informative and the sights amazing. The meal was delicious and the dancing and singing a delight. Would highly recommend.

Of the four tours we did in the surrounding area of the Grand Canyon on our seven day trip, the Dreamcatcher Evening Experience was our #1 pick. Being in the open air vehicle was so refreshing and the scenery was like nothing I'd ever seen before. Cody, our driver and guide, did a great job in telling us about the history of the area and about his culture, showed us how mesa's and butte's were formed (wish I had recorded it), sang a couple songs to us and told of how the stars came to be in the sky. About 2 1/2 hrs into the tour we stopped at what I will call a desert garden with a huge mesa as a backdrop. So peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed Navajo tacos which is a fried flatbread (yummy) with your pick of toppings - tomato, lettuce, onion, cheese and steak. After dinner we all gathered around a campfire where we were entertained with native song, dance (which they pulled most people up to participate- that always makes it fun) and storytelling. All around great evening! I hated to see it end. Highly recommend this tour.

I was recently in Monument Valley and took 4 tours split between 2 companies. I first must say that all the trips were worth the experience. On this trip we rode in an open truck and would stop with the guide explaining the locations and culture of the Navajo. Our guide was John and he did an excellent job. The weather was unseasonably mild which made this tour all the better. I went for photography and had enough time at each stop to take photos. I enjoyed the native dancing at sunset and appreciated the dancer's regalia, but the blue jeans underneath all the regalia did diminish the photos slightly. We were served a "Navajo Taco" and if you have had an "Apache Taco" in New Mexico then you have had a "Navajo Taco" it was decent but not anything to write home about or photograph. I had been told that dinner would be a steak and a Navajo Taco, and was expecting 2 items. Instead it was a large piece of fried bread with taco fixings and a piece of skirt steak. Filling, but not a unique cultural experience. I personally felt that the rest of the trip, and especially the guide John, made up for any shortcomings with the meal.
