eBike Rainforest Experience

After a 9 mile narrated van ride to the north end of Douglas Island and a short training session, guests start e-biking. After riding along the shoreline on a paved dedicated bike lane taking in fresh ocean breezes and stunning views of the largest national forest in America. The tour takes you on a short walk down an old growth Forrest path to a secluded beach offering amazing photo opportunities.

This was just a wonder tour! I picked this as a compromise of skill levels between my husband (avid mountain bike) and myself (occasional beach cruiser). I had a wonderful time as the ebike brought me up his level. My husband enjoyed it as it was biking and getting to enjoy the beauty of Alaska out in the open air. The tour included several scenic stops, a small hike to the beach, and a wonderful snack of salmon dip and crackers. Our guide, Jase, was very knowledgeable about the history, local flora and fauna, many other interesting subjects. He and my husband chatted amiably about bikes and trucks too. This was wonderful as it was unique among the offerings and I felt we got a very personalized tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone and I would take this tour again when I get back up to Juneau.

I did this tour on my own while on a cruise in Juneau and so glad I stumbled upon this vs doing some of the typical cruise line’s offered excursions. First of all the company kept the activity although I was the only one who signed up which is rare since cancellations happens all too often with other companies when their quota of participants are not met. Second, my guide - Lucas - was great! We went at my pace (fast when I felt like it or slower when hills got harder to climb etc) but also Lucas knew so much about the area and the nature in general. The activity itself was driving to a spot on Douglas island, ebiking on the sides of the road until we reached a rainforest and then doing a little nature walk within, then continuing on the road to the end of the island, taking a snack break and some scenic photos and then biking back to where we left the van we arrived on - the whole thing was about 3 hours. The bikes worked great - super smooth and you can choose the gear and electric speed. I just had such a great time and have been telling everyone about it since. I strongly recommend this.

The e bikes made it a breeze to see so much beautiful nature. Great views of Mendenhall glacier, amazing short hike/walk though the forest. Lucas and jace were incredibly knowledgeable about all the history and wildlife. They provided us with water and a taste of delicious salmon.
