A day in advance, we signed up for an 11 am tour for five: two grandparents, mom and two teenagers. We had a 35 minute drive up from Carmel, checked in with Cindy (marine eco guide) and Marina, the captain. El Cat is a very simple stable catamaran with electric motors. We had a great time on the water, moving slowly up the harbor and under the bridge to enter the Elkhorn Slough. Lots of otters, some sea lions, some seals, tons of birds - blue herons, brown pelicans, cormorants, and sea gulls. The scenery was beautiful, Cindy’s knowledgeable commentary made it all more impactful, and Marina provided a smooth, smooth ride. 90 minutes went very fast. All of us had a lot of fun, and then sat down for lunch at a restaurant right next to the dock. Time for a nap now!
