Come explore the Alaska Wilderness off the road. Explore in a guided and climate controlled Search & Rescue Fat Truck/Sherp while staying safe from the weather, bugs, and the occasional wild animal. This 3 Hour tour takes you off road up steep mining trails to vista views, teaches you about the local history, and geological formations near Denali National Park in an adventurous off road Fat Truck search & rescue vehicle. (Plan on about 3.5-4 hours if using the the hotel shuttle service from select hotels during the summer season)

The tour started at Otto Lake right near Healy. Took us across the frozen lake and up some pretty steep trails. Lots of history and interesting geological facts we would not have known about if not for our expert tour guide. The vehicle itself was very cool and got us over very difficult terrain. The froze sand cliffs are a must see. Scenery, tour guide and ride were great! Highly recommended tour!

I like to start with the positive. The vehicles were as good as new and really impressive and promised an adventure, but then we were denied. Rather, we drove up a path along a hill. Wildlife has not seen except for one moose cow (about 700m away). After a long break we drove on a path to a dried-up creek bed. There was the next long break. Finally, we went through a shallow lake for another 5 minutes. Any Jeep or ATV would have easily managed this tour. Especially exhausting was our driver, whose declared goal was to give us her worldview. Here are a few examples: nothing is better for children than homeschooling, in Alaska it is essential to continue mining coal so that it can heat cheaply... We really just wanted to have a little adventure and not pay for our mission. We were happy when the haunting was over. Too bad about the time and the money.

Sometimes there are guests who simply can’t be pleased no matter what. We are sorry you expected us to risk lives and roll our vehicles over, but safety is more important. Your guide is a wonderful person who homeschools her kids and runs a homestead, some people are offended by learning other people lifestyles and viewpoints. We hope you find your joy in life and wish you the best.
