Go treat yourself to an perfect night of learning and experiencing the culture of Maui and Hawaii in a gorgeous setting with a traditional luau meal, served in courses with the show orchestrated in between. This is truly an upscale event , worth the price. Also it is an example of the fine food and service associated with the Andaz Resort.

The location is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! A bit pricey, however all factors should be considered. The luau is a true feast, there are about 3 courses with about 4 dishes per course. Served family style, everything was delicious!! You get a complimentary photo with an actual photographer. The luau has an intimate setting, there were eight to a table. The night was lit up by beautiful soft lighting with the ocean as the back drop. The entertainers are performing on a mound, there is truly not a bad seat anywhere. The luau experience was great. Wonderful Hostess whom seemed passionate to share her culture and history, complete with a BEAUTIFUL voice. The dancers were friendly, we had the opportunity to meet them before the performance during various activities such as weaving a bracelet, getting a "tattoo", and throwing a fish net demonstration. I want to be clear that just about all luaus will offer food, activities, and complimentary drinks. What I believe sets this apart from others is the awesome location, quality of the food, intimacy by keeping the luau on the smaller side, a fire dancer (not common) and complimentary parking (a hot commodity). **There is no imu ceremony (unveiling of the underground oven that cooks the whole pig), there is a small mention with performers that being out the pig for viewing. I was bummed they didn't include this in the luau, however Kalua pork was on the menu and it was delicious!! I can't brag enough about that dish!!, it included chicharron (pork rind). Tips: First come, first seated. Arrive early and either start the line or join it. I arrived about 30 mins early and was seated in the second row of tables.

We attended the Feast at Mokapu Luau while staying at the Andaz on our honeymoon in Maui. The Andaz stay (and our flights) were part of an extremely generous wedding gift from my aunt and uncle, so we were a little free with our dollars on the trip and decided to indulge in this rather pricey luau. Originally, we had tickets for the Luau at Lahaina, but I was wary of doing the near-hour long drive on familiar roads that late at night afterwards. Overall, the luau was a good experience. The food was excellent and seemed authentic - it was also a served meal, so you didn’t have to wait in line for a buffet or anything. The performances were good and I really liked the emcee - her father was one of the musicians performing. And, she told the story of the island of Kahoʻolawe, which was once used as a training ground and bombing range by the U.S. army, and the emcee’s uncle was actually one of the activists who worked to reclaim the island for native Hawaiian purposes. I don't know if that particular story is typically told at most luaus and I found it one of the most interesting. That being said, it’s a lot of money to pay for a meal you have to eat with strangers, which, for the introverted folks like me and my husband, is never ideal. It’s also very easy, if you’re staying at the Andaz, to watch the show during dinner at Morrimoto or even just finish dinner out early and come down to the lower pool to hang out and watch the show for free, which is definitely what we would have done if we were on more of a budget during the trip. If you have the cash to spend, it’s a cool thing to do, but if you don't want to spend the money, you can check it out on the cheap anyway.

Thank you for writing a review about your recent luau experience. We're happy to hear you enjoyed the setting and the authentic story. This story was created specifically for the Feast at Mokapu in order to highlight the history of our land division, so you will not get the same experience at any of the other lu'au in maui! We would be thrilled to welcome you back on your next adventure to Maui.
