My son, his gf and I went out on the bioluminescence tour late last night with Guy with Florida-Adventurer. The night was exceptionally calm and the water was as smooth as glass, quite out of the ordinary for the first week of December, or even other times. It was so calm you could see the bottom. No wind, temperature was not bad for 11 pm at night. You could see the reflection of the stars on the surface of the water! The night sky was mostly clear, without a lot of artificial light around you could see lots of constellations and on the horizon in the far distance the launch area of the Kennedy space center.Guy is an amazing tour guide, took us through the Mangrove tunnels, saw a dolphin, needle fish, baby shark, a (dead) horseshoe crab, shrimp, night heron, a great blue heron, an osprey, mullet jumping on the surface of the water. He has so much knowledge about the ecosystem of the estuary, he has a plethora of information which made the trip even more interesting. The highlight was truly the algae/dinoflagellates and the comb jellyfish. Simply magical! It was like pixie dust had been scattered in the water and with splashes and movement the water would magically glow! It was so fun to splash the water or stir it. Nature is so fascinating!
The rates were the cheapest around and well worth the hour and 1/2 it took to get there from where we were staying.
Guy generously spent extra time in the water with us, took us to areas that aren't always accessible due to weather. You can tell this is his passion and has a love for the wildlife and their habitat. Thanks Guy for a night to remember!
