We all loved the experience. The bioluminescence was awesome. We saw a manatee and an alligator, among other things. Amazing time. Dane, our guide, was great. There was no pressure on those of us with limited kayak experience. He was very relaxed, made us feel at ease, and we had a fantastic time. Five stars for all of that.
The negative, hence the lower rating, was being left alone in the dark with no idea if anyone would show. Our tour was booked for 8pm. We arrived at 7.20pm. No-one from Florida Adventurer turned up. Another couple told us they had phoned the company and been told they were having difficulties contacting the guide, but if we contacted them we may be able to join the 9pm group. However, we could not get any signal with our phones or texts (UK phones), the other couple left and the other companies were briefing their own groups and unwilling to help. Florida Adventurer did not get in touch with us (nor had they attempted to as we received nothing when back in signal), nor did they send anybody to explain. All the other groups left. We were there alone in the dark not knowing if anyone would show, or if they did, if we could join the 9pm group. We were on the brink of giving up by 8.30pm when Dane arrived for the 9pm tour. He said he knew nothing about the 8pm no-show, but his phone was broken so he may have missed a call. He had enough boats and was happy to take the four of us. We are very glad we got to go out as it was very memorable and unique (for us) experience. Dane did apologise on behalf of the company, but we suggest Florida Adventurer review their customer service as being left in the dark as every other group, company, and person left with no idea if anyone would show was not a bundle of laughs.
