If you do not know what the word “manumission” means you need to take this exciting new Alexandria tour! I took it last Saturday and it was so well done and interesting that the rain was irrelevant! John Chapman researched and led this tour which highlights freedom’s fight and the life of the freed slave in Alexandria VA. The tour is only $10 and lasts about 90 minutes. We walked approximately 8-10 blocks through the heart of Old Town Alexandria VA. I strongly recommend this tour. It is unique, it is interesting and you learn something new! John is an amazing our guide – he welcomes questions and leads a spirited discussion!
