We had Abbey for a full day in Brown's Canyon. She was a total pro, and very sweet.
When we arrived, my son saw the adventure park and was really keen to do that. I inquired and found out it was a 2 hour thing and I was like, no, we don't have time for this. He was upset. He thought that looked like a lot of fun. He's 12. It looked like a lot of work to me. :). So consider doing it if you only do a half day or combine it with other activities.
I had concerns when making the reservation as many people said the water was freezing cold. Turns out the water just feels great when it's sunny and you just get splashed a little here and there. My mom did the previous week with my sister's family with AVA and they had those rain jackets. The people at Noah's advised me the shirts were better, and I have to agree. It would have been really hot in a plastic jacket.
My advice, though. DO wear some kind of pants or shorts. I rented a shirt, but not pants. Just wore my bathing suit. Between the sand and the rubber boat, my poor bum was practically blistered raw from sitting an rowing.
My other complaint was that I couldn't get my helmet to fit properly. Which is probably totally my own fault. Just made it hard paddle when the helmet kept falling over my eyes and I had to look thru the little holes. After lunch, I put on a hat under the helmet, which blocked it from falling down. Be sure to get your helmet fitted correctly. No one else had this issue.
I sat in the back for the first part. After lunch, I moved up front and fixed my hat. The second half of the trip was so much better than the first due to my helmet situation. But I really preferred sitting in the front. You get more splashed, but it's really where the action is. Also the second half has more rapids, so that's more fun. My mom preferred sitting in the back, so it's all very personal.
Lunch was simple, but tasty and plentiful. 2 desserts! I never eat dessert, but the kids were thrilled to have soda AND dessert.
I'm sure all the rafting companies are great. They're doing the same river, after all. I chose Noah's because they had the best pricing when I was shopping around. We all had a great time.
Only negative thing I'd say is I thought the pictures were a little pricey. $25 is about the max I'll pay for pictures, and we were able to get several pics of our horseback tour for that price. I don't know if this is good or bad, but all the photos are taken from one side of the river, so I was only in one of 14 pictures. Honestly, I looked terrible, so that's not necessarily a criticism. I would have bought them if they'd been half the price.
