This trip is designed for those eager to experience an authentic Alaskan mushing experience -- driving your own dog team!

This is the real deal, which means you are not just along for a ride -- you are an active participant in this adventure. Your guide will give you a lesson on how to drive the sled and then you will assist in harnessing your team for a trip that will take you several miles through beautiful old growth boreal forest to the top of a ridge, where vast panoramic views of the White Mountains and the Chatanika River Valley await.

✔ You drive your own dog sled the entire tour, from start to finish.

✔ You do not share the dog sled with a guide or another person.

✔ You do not have a guide attached to you by a "tag sled."

✔ Our dogs are Siberian Huskies, one of the original Arctic sled dog breeds.

✔ This is NOT a sled ride.

I cannot recommend Arctic Dog Adventures enough. The experience was truly amazing. The dogs were so friendly, excited to pull the sled, and full of joy when running. I am in good not great shape. I was able to enjoy the experience without issues. It was a bit physical as you need to help the dogs by pushing with your legs when going uphill. Some upper body strength is needed to hang on and balance is essential. This is a memory I will treasure. You can book directly with Lisbet, we did, and it allowed us to make some changes within our group. We had four of us doing the half day. My daughter and I did the full day. I am 59 and she is 31. Age is not an issue as the oldest half day individual was 70. You just need to have a spirit of adventure, be in decent shape, and love dogs. This is a memory I will treasure. This experience is not to be missed!!

I went with my best friend it was very personal tour she was so friendly and informative, she really knows what she is doing a they take care of the dog amazingly with love and respect! I will definitely will do it again

This trip was AWESOME! I can't say much beyond that. We did just the 2-hour tour. Lisbet was incredible. She gave us a crash-course in how to sled, but she totally understands that no amount of verbal instruction really prepares you, you just have to get out on the sleds! She was really helpful and kind and just cool with us! We met all of our dogs and were off! We sled through a forrest up onto a mountain where we could see Denali. It was honestly a spiritual experience! It was scary and exciting and incredible. Anyone with a mild amount of fitness level can do this, and though it's intimidating, you can do it and Lisbet is so helpful and cool. After we put our dogs away and it was getting dark, Lisbet invited us in for some hot drinks, homemade cake (with freshly picked lingon berries) and conversation. It was honestly a perfect day in Alaska and we can't wait to book a longer trek with them in the future. Don't even think about doing dog-sledding sitting in a basket when you can have this incredible opportunity here to connect with your dogs and have one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life. 10/10 would fully recommend!
