If you're a fan of the HBO show The Gilded Age, you'll love this tour. During the Gilded Age New York City became home to the greatest concentration of wealth in human history.

As America's new millionaires competed with each other to see who could have the most ornate mansion alongside the newly created Central Park they spent vast sums of money to hire architects inspired by European palaces to build structures the likes of which had never been seen in America.

These men and women were as fascinating and complex as the homes they inhabited and we'll hear stories of power, greed, love and generosity from a time when America was quickly becoming one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world.

Really enjoyed the Gilded Age Mansion tour! Matt was a great guide who provided an interesting history lesson on the Gilded Age. He is a great storyteller and was very patient and knowledgable with all of our questions. Definitely recommend this tour!

Buildings visited were very interesting, however there were a few things that could have been better: - not enough dates/context. - tour guide was reprimanded by a business owner for being in the space—it was uncomfortable and awkward for those on the tour. - used too many current day examples or references—again, your would have been enhanced by more dates and context to the rest of the Gilded Age in NYC at that time (Morgan Library, Armory, etc.)

Thanks for your review. The woman who reprimanded us was not supposed to do that. We have permission to be there and she was out of line. I apologize for her making people feel uncomfortable and it will not happen again.
