my first ever sea fishing trip didnt catch anything but a few others on the boat did one was about 50lb was waiting for a while so they could try and fill the boat and waited while the crew tried to catch live bait which was a bit annoying but was a good morning out cheaper if you go direct to them than going through an agent you see in the shops

Took my wife out with this boat last year, caught a few fishes but vowed never to take her on again because of the state of the restrooms. This year, however, they have improved, so I took my wife out with me again. Went out on 4 consecutive days, caught absoultely nothing, however, I met this amazing character called Bruce, who, altough a complete stranger, not only offerred me a share of his coffe and sandwiches, but allowed me to reel in a 22lb Kingfish on his rod and shared it with me. I went out on a 5th day determined to catch my own fish and this time, the mates and the captain allowed me to reel in my own fiash and keep it. Now here is the rub, it took me 5 trips and I still didn't catch anything with the rod and tackle provided by the boat, the regulars and crew, however, were having a whale of a time at the rear and front of the boat with their own tackle, live bait [which the boat catches en route to the fishing grounds] while Joe public , paying $50, is stuck in the middle of the boat with a dead ballyhoo which will catch you fish but the odds are stacked against you. Another thing to watch out for is you are asked to put $5 into a "pot" and the biggest fish caught [except sharks] wins the pot. Now who do think has more chances of winning? Joe public with his dead ballyhoo or the regulars and crew with kites, lures, live bait et al, get my drift?? Last year the regular who was deemed to have caught the biggest fish [and he did] was not even in the pot, there were 30 tourists on the boat, I reckon that was a googd earner for the crew and regulars. For the final week of my vacation, I went out with the Kelley Fleet at Haulover Marina and had a great time. I didn't always catch fish, but the odds of catching one compared to the regulars and the crew were reduced [they didn't stop off to catch live bait for the crew and regulars, also MIke, the mate on the Atlantis, tried everything to ensure I caught something, changing my rig and jig many times to suit the prevailing conditions and location. Reward Fleet, get your act together.

The fishing trip was better than expected - if you go on a weekday! On the weekends, the boat is packed & you will kindly be fishing your neighbors on the boat all day. If you go on the weekdays, you can expect a much smaller & peaceful crowd. The price was fair, the staff was pretty good & the ocean was beautiful. We ALMOST caught some beautiful large fish but mid-reel, we lost them. Others in the boat did reel up some nice Bonitos. Overall, it was fun, cheap & peaceful. We look forward to doing it again this summer!
