Idaho Springs
Spend some time exploring this cute and historical mining town in the heart of the Rockies. World class breweries, shopping, and dining can be found here. The town resides at an elevation of 7,526 feet in Clear Creek County. It features an ample downtown with a lot of shops and restaurants serving the I-70 travelers. Idaho Springs is a popular stop for those traveling on I-70, to and from the mountains. Though the town is known for its hot springs, Idaho Springs has a lot more to offer adventure seekers.

I arrived at Union Station at 7:30 this morning not quite knowing what to expect. I enjoyed a steaming cup of coffee and the beautiful Denver skyline as I waited for others to arrive. Sitting at Union Station was pleasant, relatively quiet, and felt safe and comfortable. Pretty soon other's started arriving. I walked up people standing at the meeting spot and we immediately hit it off and had a very pleasant conversation. Pretty soon everyone was there, our guide, Paul introduced himself, told us the game plan and we piled into the van to head toward Mt. Evans. Paul kept the conversation going, sharing interesting facts about the area and providing some great information for the history buff on board. We stopped at several places to take some amazing photos, and to take some short little hikes to some especially scenic areas. Paul shared information about the birds, and more history of the area. He was a great driver, (felt very safe), excellent conversationist, and provided a very pleasant experience. It made for such a relaxing morning. Would absolutely do it again.

My mom and I did this tour in April 2023, and it was so nice to get out of downtown and see the Rockies for a bit! The weather was great - not too cold, but still plenty of snow to see.
