We took the early AM kayak and hike up the Hanalei River. Bryan was our guide. He was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. He was also quite funny and always in good spirits. We are not regular kayakers. The paddle upstream was pretty easy. The paddle back downstream was tougher as it was into the wind. If it is planned to rain or has been raining recently, the trail can be **very** muddy and a little slippery. Be prepared to get muddy. No sense in trying to not get muddy you will not succeed. Just do what we did and take a great family memory picture of the mud love. The shower will feel great after haha! Regardless of the condition of the trail, our famlly of four absolutely LOVED this excursion. Two adults, one 13, on 9 year old. I would recommend.

Aloha RV Rebels,
Was that the Wailua River and our tour to the Sacred/Secret Falls? Our Hanalei Blue Lagoon tour does not involve any hiking, but does snorkeling.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, with Brian who is not only as you learned...very knowledgeable but also funny. He reinforces his tours with not only informative fun but safety.
He is a keeper and very glad to have him as part of the crew.
Happy Holidays,
Micco

PS...typically and counter-intuitively, most of our East facing Kaua'i rivers due to the winds are easy paddling up stream than paddling down with the current which is generally not that strong of a current.
