William was great! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and attentive to the group. William is a natural storyteller. He answered questions and engaged to group by passing around photos to immerse us in the history of Austin. The ghost stories were the added flare, but this was also a historical tour that offered an introduction to Austin’s early days from 1850s-present day.
The downfalls to the tour were of no fault of the tour guide. The Speakeasy bar had a private event so we weren’t allowed inside for part of the tour. Austin streets (especially on a Saturday night) were loud and the tour guide would have to pause for passing motorcycles. Occasionally patrons heading to and from bars would stop - one believing it was a religious sermon - and making comments.
However, despite some of the challenges a tour like this may face, William was kind and respectful, he continued through his tour and made sure the whole group was both with us and could hear him.
I think the only thing I’d like to see improved would be a working relationship with more of the establishments. It would’ve been nice to go inside the Paramount or on to the 5th floor of the Driskill. Though that may be a big ask.
