We reserved a scoot coupe on line a couple days ahead. We rented for 4 hours. The night before, we got a text telling us where to go to pick it up. Surprisingly, it was NOT where we had seen the vehicles, spoken to a rep, and picked up the brochure! Luckily it was within walking distance of our hotel.
We arrived at 8:15 for our 8:30 pick up, and there were two lines. One line was for those with reservations and the other for walk ups. We were surprised again as we watched the walk up line being served at the same time as the reservation line, rather than getting those of us with an appointment taken care of first. We got to the front of the line at 8:45, and it took another 15 minutes to register on their iPads (most of which we already did on line).
Because of the wait we were told to skip the video orientation and were handed two helmets and shown to our scoot coupe. We were shown the basics, told the gas gauge didn’t work, and told to circle the block to see if we had questions. Other than the steering being VERY loose, we did not have questions.
We decided to head towards Diamond Head, and checked out a couple beaches. The most fun we had was driving through all of the different neighborhoods. Other cars were tolerant and considerate even though we were going a bit slower than they wanted to go. All in all, it was a fun diversion to going to the beach.
We would have given 5 stars had the coupe been in perfect working order, and of the check in process was better set up. How about having people show up 30 min before start time and having more help. Also stagger the start times.
