My husband and I enjoyed a visit to Savannah while staying at Hilton Head. The dock where we were asked to wait for the ship was extremely buggy, with biting gnats and mosquitoes. (The natural insect repellent they sell at the kiosk did not repel insects, btw.) The trip was really loud and long. The historic narration was minimal and hard to hear over the noisy engine on the ship. The crew was friendly. We received coupons for discounts at popular sites and discounts for going on the Old Savannah tour hop on hop off trolley ride- an excellent way to be oriented to the city history and offerings. Four hours in Savannah was not nearly enough and we drove back to spend a full day there on the following day. If you have time to kill on your vacation, this is one way to get to and from Savannah. On the whole, I do not think it was worth it.

Visited and loved Savannah! However, I do not recommend the cruise here. The waiting area is extremely buggy. The ship’s engine was very noisy.... so noisy that we could not hear the minimal narration that was provided. The staff onboard were friendly. I recommend getting Old Savannah Tours tickets. The trolley tour is informative and the guides extremely friendly. The cruise people discount the tour tickets. I found the length of time in Savannah to be inadequate. We ended up Driving back again the next day to take in more sites.

This is the second time we have taken this cruise, the first being 12 years ago. We enjoyed it then and we did even more so this time. The Captain and crew are so friendly, courteous and professional it's like going on a family cruise. The Spirit of Harbour Town is a lovely vessel with all the comforts required. If you can, DO IT!
