To begin with, I would say that our tour guide, Cindy was very informative and passionate about Ybor City, its food, heritage, and beauty and made the visit most enjoyable! The tour ran longer than expected but I don't think that anyone in our group was disappointed. The food at each stop was delicious and plentiful. We needed a box for the last few stops! The day ended with a delicious cup of Cuban coffee & pastry.
I mention the coffee because this tour is called and described as the "HISTORIC YBOR CITY FOOD TOUR "So much rich culture and history that both your taste pallets and your mental senses will both be delighted and enlightened! Experience the delights of Ybor City with 5-7 food and drink tastings during this easy 3-hour walking tour."
That in its description includes food as well as drinks. The only 'drinks' included was water which was appreciated and needed, however, the description is misleading. While it is ok to purchase a drink, we found after the first stop that there is not enough time to drink it and you are not allowed to walk with open containers of alcohol. My group bought 3 beers and a glass of wine equaling about $30 and had to leave our barely touched glasses to move on (suggestion at "German" stop: allow guests to buy 1/2 pints/smaller glasses). In addition, when I called to book the tour, I inquired about the accessibility of a wheelchair, I was told that Ybor City complied with all ADA requirements: all of the restaurants were wheelchair friendly as was the charming Trolley we rode but the city is full of brick streets (totally charming), uneven curbs, trolley tracks and plenty of construction making it a bit of a challenge to use a wheelchair. Even with a couple of setbacks and unfulfilled expectations, I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about the incredible architecture, the rich culture and history to lives on today, and the stories behind the men & women who built the cigar industry, then this tour is an absolute MUST!
