This 9 Hour Tour begins with a two-hour shuttle into the Hoh Rain Forest, one of the largest temperate rain forests in the contiguous USA. At the Hoh Rain Forest, guests typically have two full hours to explore the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature Trail on a Naturalist Guided Hiking Tour. Our guide will overview the natural history of the Hoh Rain Forest, identify various micro-plants, and showcase the top viewing areas. The endless moss-laden scenery and towering old-growth evergreens are breathtaking.

After a scheduled stop in Forks, we spend the afternoon on the Pacific Coast at Rialto Beach. At Rialto, guests generally have one or two hours to explore this beautiful section of wilderness coast amongst massive sea stacks, driftwood logs, and the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Overall, guest can expect 3-4 hours of sightseeing with about 4-5 hours of drive time roundtrip from our Port Angeles meet-up location.

Hoh Rain Forest

Upon arrival at the Hoh Rain Forest, our naturalist hiking guide will lead a 2 mile guided hike along the scenic nature loops up to 2 miles. During the hike, guests will be face-to-face with 300 foot tall old growth Sitka Spruce trees, sword ferns covering the forest floor, and a wide variety of vivid-green vegetation. After the rain forest hike, there will be time allocated for a picnic lunch.

Forks

To split up our drive from the Hoh Rain Forest to Rialto Beach, we will do a 20-30 minute scheduled stop at Forks Outfitters. This is a great place to pick-up lunch snacks, coffee, or a quick souvenir.

Rialto Beach

During the afternoon, our tour group will enjoy a scenic stop at Rialto Beach along the Olympic Wilderness Coast. At Rialto Beach, guests will walk alongside towering sea stacks, massive driftwood logs, and watch the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Guests can either join a guided hike led by our naturalist hiking guide or can explore the coast at their own pace as time and tides permit.

Our tour guide was well mannered with excellent interpersonal skills. We got good education regarding types of rain forests and different types of trees. He picked good scenic spots for photography. He was understanding the need for younger and not so young tourist and able to manage both groups with patience.

This was a highlight of our trip to Washington state. We took the two small trails. Anyone can take these trails. They are easy walks and the site are amazing. We had wonderful weather and I took over 300 pictures in just a few hours. There are great places to picnic. Enter and go to the visitor center, everything to do will make sense from there. Anyone in Washington state should experience this.

I booked a private tour with Olympic Hiking Co. for my family of 12, ages ranging from 11 to 85. It was a very easy process to book a day tour to the Hoh Rainforest and Rialto beach with Tommy. Communication with Tommy was excellent. Olympic Hiking Co. made it really convenient for my family. Because we had booked a private tour, they picked us up and dropped us off at our vacation rental on Lake Sutherland. They were prompt and they also were thoughtful enough to bring an extra cooler and some water because we packed our own lunches. The 14 person van was really comfortable and clean. Because we didn't have to do the driving (1.5 - 2 hours one way) to the Hoh Rainforest we could relax and just enjoy the views. Dana, our naturalist and driver did an excellent job. She gave us a lot of information on the area (flora, fauna, etc.). It was nice to get a locals point of view and experiences of the peninsula. She was patient and spent a little more time answering questions for our younger family members. Dana also adjusted our itinerary based on our group pace, our preferences and the weather. I would highly recommend Olympic Hiking Co. for a scheduled day tour or a private tour for larger groups.
