This is the coolest and most interesting thing I have done on Kauai! Our hosts were Sarah and Jackson today with a ride-along by their microbiologist as an extra bonus, Maggie (please forgive me if I didn’t get your name right!). Sarah & Jackson threw down some significant knowledge about bees, beekeeping, and how bees are an important part of the eco system, not to mention the human race. They answered a lot of questions as well, teaching us throughout the experience. We also got a fun turn at holding the frame Jackson pulled from the hive along with a bunch of glorious lady bees hanging out on the frame. We then tasted that honey and comb, then went on to taste several other honeys, chocolate, and apple bananas drizzled with honey and cacao nibs. I am a huge honey fan and this honey truly is something special just as the farm is and the wonderful staff. I also appreciate they way they care for their bees, we took a calming breath when we arrived at the hive, and Jackson/Sarah shared their techniques to ensure a stressful situation wasn’t created for the busy bees. It was amazing to see how peaceful the bees were and seemingly accustom to these lovely humans. I would highly recommend the bee tour if you are even just slightly curious about bees, honey, and the importance of bees. We absolutely loved this experience! Next trip, the chocolate tour is on tap for us and maybe even the bee tour again. Amazing!
Oh, and P.S. they have a lovely tasting room downtown Kapa’a that is also worth stopping at, more wonderful yum yums and humans 🥰
