If you have the slightest interest in military history, you have the opportunity on this floating museum's aircraft carrier Intrepid. It's a cool experience if you've never seen an aircraft carrier, then it's here
There are lots of planes and helicopters to look at and follow the technology right up to the F14 and F16, which are the latest (newest) planes on the ship.
Everything from the space shuttle, to the many warplanes and helicopters, as well as depictions of life on board certainly made it an experience that will be remembered.
You can easily spend 3 hours on the ship - and it's worth the time for the whole family, big and small! Even my 4 year old grandson could catch the interest.
Something from the space age had also been illustrated, with the space shuttle Enterprise standing on the deck. It has not been in orbit in space, but it was impressive.
Most of the ship is open to the public and all around the ship former servicemen and volunteers were ready to talk about their experiences with the ship. You can see a lot of fun details on board, such as dormitories, the captain's quarters, the large anchor etc. Part of the ship's cabins are equipped with the equipment that has been used in the ship's active service.
On the hangar deck, which had been converted into a large experimentarium, it was possible to test various functions on the ship. There was a lot of information. In the ship's cinema on this deck, you could watch the film that was recorded of the kamikaze attack that hit the ship during World War II. Furthermore, a Lego model of Intrepid is on display in front of the cinema.
On the outside of the ship, children and childish souls could enjoy the ship's anti-aircraft guns.
With a crew of 2,600 men and long voyages, it was so-so with "privacy". You could get an experience of that on the 3rd deck. Here you could experience how those serving on the ship spent their free time, how they were accommodated in the dormitories and experience some of the large field kitchen.
The entrance ticket also gives access to the nuclear submarine USS Growler next to the ship, but here you have to have a lot of patience, because there are a lot of people.
We had bought tickets from home, so you avoid the sometimes long queues.
Definitely a recommendation from here, but remember to adjust expectations from home:)
