We booked everything from trip advisor on this vacay, rather than through the cruise line. Note - every excursion in Alaska is kinda pricey. This one was no exception to that, but it was definitely a WIN. There was an issue with our booking through trip advisor and our 9am tour actually booked us for 10, but Kayak Ketchican had guides on hand who were willing to take us right then and there. We had a short drive with Eric, who was nice and informative. As soon as we arrived to meet our hike guide (Danielle), we started seeing bald eagles in all the trees! The water was so clear you could see starfish on the bottom and a sea lion came in to fish. It was Beautiful! I was a little nervous about my girls and the bikes (they are motorized and have some weight) but once they were able to practice a few minutes, we were off. The ride was beautiful and breezy. We arrived at the park and started our hike, which was fairly easy. Danielle was our guide and her mom and grandmother were both native Alaskan, and she was full of information about the plants etc - what you could eat and touch and what you couldn't, what you could eat, what you could use as medicine and what you could use to start a fire. After hiking, we rode our bikes back to the dock where they had DELICIOUS smoked salmon, a smoked salmon dip, Ritz crackers, hummus, carrots, sparkling water and beer. This company and the guides were great. We would 100% use them again (and I'm ordering a box of the canned smoked salmon!).
