Start at the office just across from the cruise ship port and take a van to the other side of the island, We were provided with girth adjustable helmets, a rain jacket, and pants. At the dock, it was very windy and raining pretty hard but when we got to our starting point, it was clear and warmer with no wind. Tim and Melissa adjusted the bikes to our height and gave safety and use instructions. We practiced using the power assist 'E-bike' and then headed off. The hills with the power assist was easy and you get to choose how much power or you could choose to just pedal (8 gears) or combine the two. After 5.5 miles, we walked through a rainforest area on a well-made trail, past waterfalls and to the beach. Melissa stopped often to explain about the flora in the rainforest. We encountered a deer at the start but no other animals in the rainforest. We hiked to the beach where the mud flats left during low tide were teaming with life. There were starfish, crabs, seaweed, clams and lots of barnacles. The hike back took us to the bikes and we returned on the same roads with bike lanes clearly marked and very little traffic. Nicole (van driver) gave some island history on the trip, Tim made sure the bikes fit just right and prepared really yummy snacks for the end of the trip. I highly recommend this trip, this company and ask for Melissa to be your guide! Post note: hubby left his phone in the rain pants pocket. I called it and Danielle answered and said she would mail it back since our ship had (literally) sailed. Thank you Danielle.
